Matt Fired: Fans Are Not Happy

Fans, the Matt/Edge/Lita story has reared up anew, and again in a completely disgusting way.

What follows are comments from the HTM forum posse, mixed in with some of the emails we received on this subject.

In a move described as totally misplaced at best and sheer idiocy at worst, WW"e" resident genius, Vince McMahon, nailed his nutz to the floor this time. Universally the fans understand that this is not a work or more buffonery from WW"e" writers; this is real and very, very shitty. In sum, the fans are highly irritated at the WW"e" for pulling such horseshit.

"As for any concerns that the WWE had about Matt and Edge running into one another, how was that Matt's issue at all? They could have moved one of them to Smackdown. Edge isn't such a big draw that he can command what the WWE does. It's just more bullshit that will end up angering the fans. I hope that Lita and Edge are ready for this."

"WWE.com has reported that Matt Hardy has been let go. Its a double punk! First Edge bangs his girl and now Matt gets canned."

"He's right. Matt Hardy handled it pretty fuckin' well considering the circumstances. He came out and in what may possibly be seen as a tad whiny, he told everyone exactly what happened, how he was feeling (i.e. betrayed but the woman he loved and his best friend) and done it with no real malice (such as calling her a dirty slut, or beating the crap out of Edge) so why he should be the one to be fired is beyond me. WWE obviously feels that in the long run they can get more from Edge/Lita than they could from Hardy, which would be totally wrong. The reaction Lita, a 'face', recieved the RAW after the news broke shows that people didn't like it. It'll be interesting to see the reception she gets tonight. Edge...well Edge would struggle to get over with his own parents nevermind a crowded arena. He has no potential left whatsoever and his latest push should have been cancelled and he should have had his ass handed to him in the form of pink slip. This "extreme" style was the same Edge, Christian and others were using and yet they will still be kept around. Hardy would have been opened to bigger bumps and possibly a major high 'spot' if he had been given his rightful place within the ladder match at WM. There's no real justification for firing him all together. He could have just been switched over to SD. If this wasn't wrestling business he could sue for such pish."

"Wow. This is very fucked up of the WWE. They fired Testicles while he was out injured and now Matt because he apparently didn't handle the Edge/Lita situation very well? I wonder how Vince would react if he found out Linda was cheating on him.... wait, scratch that. He probably wouldn't care, 'cause he's a man-whore, or at least, he wants to be. If I were in Matt's shoes, I would have gone after the fucker who did my lady. So yes, Matt did handle it very welll (the slashing of Edge's tires, if it was Matt, ain't so bad). Edge's push is undeserving. This guy couldn't connect with the fans while face and seems to be generating the wrong type of heat as a heel. Winning the ladder match at 'mania was something, in my opinion, that never should have happened. It's like the WWE is saying "Well, you fucked over a good friend and made the company look even worse then we already do... so for your efforts, he's a nice big push. You deserve it 'cause you totally reek of awesomeness"."

"Think of the push Edge`d get if he`d have raped Lita. If they were gonna fire Hardy they should have fired all three. There`d have been nothing reported if there`d been no scandal in the first place."

"The only excuse is Matt went public with the scandal and Edge and Lita did not, so unfortunately... Matt may have done this to himself. As far as the McMahons go, you can't blame them... this is just business as usual for them."

"Matt had to come out and say something. He was pissed off, and rightfully so. He removed Lita's pics from his site, which was the first indication that something was wrong. After that he obviously had to explain WHY he removed the pics. Never at any point though did he come out and bash Lita or Edge, which millions of men in his position would not have been able to hold back from doing. How many people would have called her a fuckin' whore and plastered those lovely camera phone pics of her, with your dick her ass? How about telling the stories of the time you and YOUR BEST FRIEND, got drunk and fucked those two chicks...only his wasn't a chick? He did none of this, he remained dignified and sent out a statement telling of their 'betrayal'. McMahon fucked up on this one, and any other company would be looking at a wrong dismissal case just now."

Goddamned - Vince and his croneys have lost all sense of reason; of course this just shows Vince's character (or lack of it): Screw around, stab each other in the back, just don't let the Internet fans know about it. Forget it VinnyMac, you destroyed kayfabe; you can't expect everybody else to follow it. Vince has kissed this viewer goodbye......"
