Kanyon fired… oh, and Ernest Miller too

Fellow marks (hey, I couldn’t steal Loop’s line, right), we have learned, as many of you have, that the WWE has fired Chris Kanyon. While I’m sure this comes as no surprise to many of us, it can be seen nonetheless as another stupid move by the WWE. The official notice from wwe.com simply states that: “WWE’s Talent Relations Department has announced that Chris Kanyon has been released from his contract as of Monday, Feb. 9.” And that’s it. No “good luck,” no “best wishes,” nothing. After being underused for far too long, “the Innovator of Offense” is gone.
Who did he piss off? That’s what I want to know. It’s hard to believe that such a talented worker in the ring would be let go before, oh I don’t know… Maven! Or any number of other worthless, dead weight wrestlers that they’ve got kicking around right now. I thought that the Benoit push was proof that the WWE was finally starting to appreciate their wrestlers who could actually wrestle. Guerrero’s getting a title shot as well, but where’s Kanyon, oh that’s right, that’s him heading out the door. What a waste.
So many times we’ve heard the WWE talk about “getting back to basics” and JR’s famous combination of “steak and sizzle.” How then, could they not find a use for a man like Chris Kanyon? The writers may not have been able to integrate him into storylines (despite the fact that this was something even wCw could do) but they could have at least used him to help train new talent in OVW, or used him as a road manager, or found a use for him somewhere. But hey, I suppose the WWE needs more generic clone copy performers like John Heidenreich, instead of innovators like Kanyon, right?
Well, we here at HTM.com would like to wish Chris the best in his future endeavors. That fans appreciate you, Chris, and I’m sure that NWA:TNA is greatly looking forward to bringing you aboard. In the end, this might just turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to your career.
Oh, right, and rumor has it that Ernest Miller was fired also… yeah, I don’t care either.
