PERCY WIMPS OUT: THE FANS' REACTIONS
Posted by:
Krazy Loop on 04/14/2004
Fans, most of you know by now that Percival Pringle, a/k/a William Moody, pulled the plug on his message boards a few days ago. Yes, this is the same William Moody who swore up and down that he would NEVER return to the WW"e" and then did the exact opposite after he lied to his fans about it for months. HTM's fans, most of whom had also been fans of Percy up until that point, quickly let us know how they felt. Please note that officially most of the crew at The HTM Website still hold the opinion that Percy is a peach of a guy-----officially that is. Unofficially, well, some of us may now have our personal beliefs to the contrary. Most of our posters know wrestling very well. All of our posters know when they are being hosed and lied to.
The following posts, with the exception of Percy's letter to his fans, are reprinted for the most part exactly how they were put up on The HTM Website boards by the individual authors. Some slight editing was nominally made for punctuation and continuity purposes.
To begin----------
1. Well it looks like there is gonna be a whole shit load of losers crying (sic) in there Undertaker Wrestling Buddy tonight. It looks like Ol' Perc has closed his message board. Damn. Just when the hot debate of "Short Hair Taker or Long Hair Taker?? Either way he is still the coolest!" topic was just heating up! The following is Percy's reasoning. Try not to fall asleep.
PERCY'S QUOTE:
"To our registered users and guests, I have been fairly computer savvy for many years. However, my baptism of fire into the pro-wrestling Internet world did not really come until I left World Wrestling Entertainment in October of 2002. I had the desire to keep my finger on the pulse of the business, and at the same time keep my name out there for my long time fans to see. I was invited by the staff and management of old-school wrestling to join their message board. It didn’t take long for us to out grow our stay there, and I decided in April 2003, that we should venture out on our own. THE PRINGLE DYNASTY EzBoard was born. “Plowboy” Kurt Nielsen used his outstanding talents to design my website, and naturally became the administrator for our message forums. Registered users Guerin Shea and Steve Pulliam, stood out amongst the crowd and were enlisted as moderators. These three gentlemen have gone above and beyond the call to duty many times during the past year. There isn’t any way that I can ever tell them how much I appreciate their efforts and friendship. Nobody knows what we have been through, and the troubles we have endured, more than Kurt, Guerin, and Steve. We tried desperately to keep the bad from infecting the good. I was amazed at the feces that floated to the top of the wrestling Internet cesspool. Not only were my 30-years of dedication to the wrestling industry attacked by the bloodthirsty Internet vultures, so were my personal ideals, as well as my family and friends. I did my level best to explain that our message board was not for everyone. I demanded complete respect for my business and it’s performers. However, many users continued to drag my name, and my business through the dirt. After rejoining WWE last month, things went to hell in a hand basket on the board. I became a natural target. I couldn’t say anything without the vultures picking at the bones of my comments. I had to protect my business, and my own integrity. However, I couldn’t get the majority to understand where I was coming from. Now I know why wrestling figures cannot maintain a one-on-one relationship with their fans on the Internet. I tried and I failed, it’s that simple. I don’t have the time, or the desire to continue my efforts here any longer. I must say that there are many intelligent members of our forums out there. Some have been loyal to us from day one. To you, and you know who you are, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. To you vultures, and you know who you are too; all I can say is that you won. The “Fatman” did a job for you. Unfortunately, the losers are the good folks that I have been talking about, for you people we will continue to keep PercyPringle.com online. I am looking forward to several more years of my association with World Wrestling Entertainment. It is just a damn shame that the Internet world rapes our business each and every day. I guess it is just the nature of the beast, and there isn’t anything we can do to stop it. Keeping that fact in mind, I sincerely wish you all my very best. I thank you again for your time and support. You may always contact me via email at: PercyPringle3@PercyPringle.com God Bless! ~Percy"
END QUOTE
Funny shit. The same funny shit that helped this to happen. Fuck off Percy. You dumb bastard.
2. Hmm. You would think that someone who has been around as long as him would be able to withstand the vultures.
3. Now, now, now... ya can't tell Perce to fuck off unless this is in the correct forum to do it properly!
4. I have mixed feelings on this issue. I can completely understand where Percy is coming from, in that wrestling fans can be unforgiving. However, any person in his position would have done the same thing. While he may not like the WWE, when you're not making money, you'll do what you've got to do. But this is nothing new. Percy lied or "kayfabed" to his loyal following which probably isn't the best thing to do. But what does he care? He's making money. Now he closed his message board. That also doesn't come as a big surprise to me. That's how most workers are. Once they get what they want, they don't need the internet anymore. For most, the main goal is to get back into the WWE. Piper did it and the moment he went back, his site basically died. That's how it works. However I have to disagree with him on the "one on one relationship" part of his post. The HTM doesn't have much problem interacting with his fans both on our message board and to a lesser extend, by email.
5. I leike percys bord
now i hav nowere to post
ill probably kill miself and
be with baby jesus
6. I don't think that the reason the board is gone is because Percy's feelings were hurt. He has worked heel forever, so I don't think he is that thin skinned. I think it is gone is because the board had served its purpose, and he is back where he wanted to be, on top with the WWE. I still think that he could have pleaded ignorance when the story broke about his return to the WWE instead of lying, but that was his choice. I never saw any post from any member that was extremely insulting, so what he said, to me, doesn't make sense. I have no beef with Percy and I was a member there, and enjoyed my time there. I wish him continued success.
7. I really don't give a rat's behind what Percy does anymore. My problem with him is the attitude that him and his minions had toward anyone who dared not to sing their party line. I don't resent old fat boy for getting a job with WWe. We all have to eat. And with Percy the food bill is definitely higher than normal. People on the HTM Forum, Honky and his administrators don't act like babies when you disagree with them. I like it here because people can debate without being pussies about it. You really have to go out of your way to f-up and get banned. If tub-o-lard goes out and makes money in the wrestling business, all the power to him. But, when it's over, don't come back and use the fans and piss on them (the way) IMO Percy did.
8. I like Percy, I really do, but him closing his boards doesn't leave a very good impression. Interacting with the fans is a vital part in any wrestlers career, whether you've been in the business for 1 year or 30 years....it's a VERY vital part...but yet, somehow Percy thinks otherwise. . . .
9. Hmmmm. . . . . I have a hard time not agreeing with _____ on this one. Percy sounds like a whiny baby all the way around and ignored the fact that he flat out lied to his "fans." When we add in his line that the internet world "rapes" wrestling, all I can say is: LOLOLOLOLOLOL. No one on this website makes a single dime from doing this and the fact is we keep interest in the product higher than it would be without us. That also includes fan interest in his sorry ass. His writing is the lamest thing I have seen since PiperNutz sent emails to us last year. I also have to wonder if he feels the same regarding anyone who buys a ticket, sits in the front row at a match, and boos him or the guy he "manages." My opinion of him has now dropped about 10 notches.
10. Well, At least he left an email address. . . . Someone want to ask him if he would like some cheese with that whine?
11. My biggest gripe with this post is Percy's constant referring to Wrestling as "his" business. He does it several times in the post. It kind of comes across as having low self esteem (IMO) and it's like he's reminding us all how "important" he is. Wrestling is a different beast than it used to be, and having this closed minded look at the fans being total "outsiders" is passe'. When kayfabe died, so did all of the "workers vs. marks" bullshit.
12. "When we add in his line that the internet world "rapes" wrestling, all I can say is: LOLOLOLOLOLOL. No one on this website makes a single dime from doing this and the fact is we keep interest in the product higher than it would be without us. That also includes fan interest in his sorry ass. His writing is the lamest thing I have seen since PiperNutz sent emails to us last year." Damn Percy... YOU GOT SERVED!!!
13. It's funny how he would explain the "business" to the posters there like how blading works and all the other details but now complains about the business not being protected.
14. LOL, the internet rapes the business. This is what takes meaning away from words. I think I am going to go rape my Nintendo.
15. LMFAO! I thought the next-gen hardware already did that.
16. Percy was never one of my favorites nor anyone I disliked. I was generally neutral on him. HTM has no problems with him and always spoke favorably of Percy to my knowledge. Until his WMXX BS and his present letter to his "fans" I did not see much reason to blast Percy and never heard anything negative about him in any way. In fairness to him I have been to his website once, maybe twice, but that is pushing it, and I did not stay long. My main point is Percy blaming what he percieves as his problems on the internet and in turn on us by direct reflection. I am completely mystified how the "internet," which is little more than a technological method of fast communication, can rape anyone or an inanimate object like a "business." That there might be people in the world who don't agree with or like Percy, and who just might get a little vicious about letting him know that, should come as no shock to a person (I was going to use the term "man" but I don't see that it applies) who spent much of his life interacting with the public and making his living that way. Apparently it never occurred to him that people sent nasty letters before the internet existed. If he is that thin skinned and naive maybe he should consider going back to his momma's house and hiding under her bed covers permanently. I always hate to think that someone his age needs to grow up. The most amusing part of this for me, and of the entire PiperNutz flap, is knowing that there are loons lost in space who believe that no one can mention their names unless it is in a sentence containing high praise. Slice it anyway you like but if Percy had not lied to his fans but instead posted "no comment" he would not have been taken to task and would not now have to whine publically about it. He did that all by himself and used the internet to do it, not the other way around. From now on the name "Percy Pringle" will equate with the phrase "Ball-less Ninny" for me.
17. I guess people in the limelight have different ways of handling negative reviews or fan reaction.HTM seems to have no problem what so ever when he gets blasted cause he can give it as much as take it. It is a shame though (Percy) shut down his forums...hurts his fans...thats bad.
18. Still suppose it means no more photos of his ass.
19. I cannot deny that I was indeed laughing manically when I found out, but being the professional that I am, I actually refrained from the overwhelming urge to dance on the grave that was the PP3 message boards. While I do indeed get a great deal of satisfaction knowing that he slapped the faces of all his fans that kept the board and his site alive, I find it far more comforting to know that I have once again kept my word to myself. I did say that I would see his boards in hell before I went back, and since their demise, that battle has been won.
20. Two of Percy's Mods started their own website. So that's where the former dynasty members have gone.
21. I've been a Dynasty member as long as I've been a member here and really, I couldn't give a rats ass one way or the other. It's all about consumption, kids. These people are here for our consumption and when one goes away, another pops up in his/her place. Percy is alright by me, and I certainly don't need to defend him. This is after all, the fucking internet. These aren't real places we're going to. They're dots on a screen in front of us. Next.....
22. I was over at the new site (Right to Rant) and it's nothing special. Just a lot of bitching about a former member of the Dynasty.
23. Speaking of Perce.... he pulled the link to HTM.com off his "recommended links" list. I wonder why????
24. Maybe because Kayfabe doesn't live here? Or flat out fucking lying? Who knows?
Fans, there you have it. After I read the above posts on The HTM Website boards, I wandered to Percy's website and spent some time perusing his galleries. Percy is certainly a decent man who has had a long and honorable career in wrestling and he should have some good years remaining. We didn't decide to write this Commentary until after we discovered that Percy pulled our link.
Nonetheless, Percy would do well to remember four things: 1) the old line about people who can't take a joke; 2) don't lie to your fans; 3) who your friends were and why they aren't any longer; and 4) be a man and don't blame your problems on us.
